Igisoro - Omweso 1.5.3

Also known as Mucuba by the Shi and Havu peoples in South Kivu, in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, IKibuguzo in Burundi, and Omweso or Mweso in Uganda, Igisoro is a variant of the Mancala family of games traditionally played by two participants. It is widely enjoyed in Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda. Similar to East African Bao, Igisoro features 16 holes per player with a total of 64 balls used during gameplay. Each player controls two rows of holes adjacent to them.

The primary objective of Igisoro is to capture all or a portion of the opponent's balls to hinder their movements and potential gameplay strategies.

Belonging to the Mancala games category, other noteworthy variations include Awale, Congo Kinshasa Mangola, Kissoro, Ngola, Warri, Ayo, Oware, and several others commonly played in West Africa.

Historically believed to have originated during the time of the Aksumite Kingdom in Ethiopia, Mancala games hold a significant cultural value across regions where they are played.
